Invoices and payments

Choose how your invoices and quotes look

Pick the Detailed or Simple style for the invoices and quotes your customers see. One setting covers both, and you can switch any time.

Who can do this
People with the Company profile permission

Your customers see your invoices and quotes in one of two styles. You pick it once for the whole business, and quotes always use the same style as invoices.

  • Detailed is a line-by-line table with quantities, units and unit prices. It suits project work and measured jobs.
  • Simple is a receipt-style page. The amount due comes first, then the service date and a plain list of what you did. It suits appointments, sessions and visits.

Pick a style

  1. Step 1: Go to Settings › Company and find Invoice and quote style.
  2. Step 2: Click Detailed or Simple. Each one shows your latest invoice in that style, or a sample before you've sent one, so you can compare them side by side.
  3. Step 3: Click Save changes.

The style applies right away to every invoice and quote link, including ones you've already sent. It changes only the look. Amounts, line items and the ways to pay stay the same.

What Simple shows

  • The amount due at the top, with when it's due. Once an invoice is paid, it says Paid in full and is titled Receipt.
  • A Service date when the invoice bills scheduled visits: the visit's day, or the first to the last day of the job's visits when they fall within a month. Invoices made without a job don't show one.
  • Each line with its quantity in plain words, like 3 at $75.00 each. Change orders are listed under Additional services.
  • On quotes, the job site is called Location, and the deposit reads Deposit to book.

Tip: Click Preview as client on any invoice or quote to see it in your style before your customer does.

Good to know: The previews use your saved company details, so click Save changes after a new logo or phone number to see it there. People who can't see invoices get a sample invoice in the previews instead of a real one.

Good to know: New accounts whose work is all appointments and visits, like dog training, pest control or mobile detailing, start on Simple. Everyone else starts on Detailed.
