Is it really free? What's the catch?
Really free. One company account with unlimited clients, quotes, invoices, scheduling, weather rules, automated follow-ups, and your whole team, free forever, not a trial, no credit card to start.
Can my whole team use it?
Yes. Invite your whole team, assign jobs, and color-code the calendar; there's no per-seat fee. What's free today stays free.
Are there fees when customers pay online?
Online card and bank (ACH) payments carry payment-processing costs, as they do on any platform: standard Stripe processing plus a 1.5% MakeHay platform fee, deducted automatically from the payout. Nothing is billed to you for payments, and recording the checks and cash you collect in person is free, no fee, ever.
Will the free plan stay free?
Yes. We're not going to give you the tools, get you moved in, and then start charging for what used to be free. The core stays free. Paid add-ons are optional extras on top, like taking our branding off your documents, and nothing that's free today moves behind one.
Is there a contract or anything to cancel?
No contract and nothing to cancel on the free plan, which has no billing at all. Add-ons are month to month or yearly, and you can drop one any time; it stays on until the end of what you've paid for.
What happens to my data if I leave?
It's yours. Ask us and we'll export it for you, and we delete it as laid out in our privacy policy.
What are the paid add-ons?
No MakeHay branding puts your name alone on your quotes, invoices, portal and emails, for $9 a month or $90 a year. You can also earn it by referring businesses. Texting, coming late October or November, will send your quotes, invoices and reminders by text as well as email, for $19 a month or $190 a year. Website gets your business a site that our team builds and hosts from your account, for $197 a month or $1,970 a year. Its contact page is your request form, so leads land in Requests; a page per service and per town; your phone, email, address and hours from Settings; and your domain free for the first year. The first two remove a badge or add a channel. This one is a hosted site, a build by our team, and a lead pipe into Requests. Everything free today, including every team member you invite, stays free; add-ons only ever add.
Is there a referral program?
Yes. Refer a service business from Settings › Referrals. When they take their first online payment on MakeHay, you get 3 months of No MakeHay branding; five activated referrals make it free for life. The business you refer gets its first month free.
Is there a partner or affiliate program?
Yes. Dealers, coaches, creators and associations who send businesses to MakeHay earn 30% of what those businesses pay us for 12 months: the 1.5% fee on their online payments and any add-ons. Statements close monthly and are paid through Stripe. Apply to the partner program.
