Jobs and scheduling

Start, complete or cancel a job

Move a job from scheduled to in progress to completed, invoice it as you finish, or cancel and restore it.

Who can do this
The account owner, and people with the Edit jobs & status permission

A job is Unscheduled, Scheduled, In progress, Completed or Canceled. Scheduling a visit makes it Scheduled. You change the rest with the buttons at the top of the job page.

  • Start marks a scheduled job in progress.
  • Complete & invoice marks it complete and opens a new invoice filled in from the job. It shows until the job has an invoice for the work. A deposit invoice doesn't count.
  • Complete marks it complete without making an invoice. You don't have to press Start first.
  • Unschedule, on a scheduled job, takes its visits off the calendar and puts the job back in the unscheduled tray.
  • Cancel job cancels it. A canceled job shows Restore, which puts it back on the schedule, or in the tray if it has no visits.
  • Create invoice shows on a completed job that hasn't been billed yet.

In a visit's quick view on the calendar you'll find Start job, Mark complete (once the job is in progress), Cancel job and Restore job too.

Good to know: Unschedule needs the Schedule visits permission. Making an invoice needs Create & edit invoices.

Good to know: Past due shows on a job when its scheduled work has ended and it's still open. Complete it, or add a visit to reschedule it.

Good to know: A repeating job has no Start or Unschedule. Click End repeat & complete to finish it. Canceling a repeating job also ends the repeat and removes its upcoming visits. See Set up a recurring service.

Delete a job

Click Delete job at the top of the job page, then Delete job again to confirm. This permanently removes the job with its visits, photos and crew assignments. The customer and any quote stay. A job with an invoice attached, even a voided one, can't be deleted, so cancel it instead. Deleting needs the Delete jobs permission.
