Fix a payment you recorded by mistake
Recorded payments can't be edited or deleted in MakeHay. See what you can fix yourself, and how to reach MakeHay about the rest.

Once you record a payment, it's saved on the invoice as you entered it. MakeHay has no way to edit or delete a recorded payment, so check the amount on the button, like Record $250.00, before you click it.
What a recorded payment changes
- The balance goes down, and the invoice moves to Partially paid or Paid.
- If the invoice has a billing email, your customer was sent a receipt.
- The invoice can't be voided, and Revert to draft no longer shows, so its line items and dates stay locked.
If you recorded too little
Click Record payment again and record the rest as a second payment. Both show under Payments received, and the balance is right.
Anything else
If the amount was too high, the payment went on the wrong invoice, or the date or method is wrong, contact MakeHay.
- Step 1: Open Help & feedback: the life ring at the top of the help assistant (bottom right), or your account menu.
- Step 2: Under What's this about?, choose I need help with something.
- Step 3: Say which invoice it is and what went wrong, then click Send message.
