Publish changes to your website

Publish your edits when they're ready, see what to fix first, restore an earlier version, or take the site offline.

Who can do this
People with the Website permission. Only the account owner can take the site offline.

Edits stay in a draft until you publish. Visitors keep seeing the last published version until then.

  1. Step 1: In the editor at Settings › Website, look at the button beside Publish changes. It says Ready, or a count such as "2 to fix" or "3 to improve". Click it to see the list.
  2. Step 2: Fix everything under Before this can go public, such as a home page with no headline or a site with no services. These stop you publishing.
  3. Step 3: Click Publish changes. A message confirms which version is live.

Items under Worth improving don't stop you publishing. They point out things like fewer than 6 gallery photos, no reviews, or no description for search results.

The badge at the top reads Live, or Live, with unpublished changes when edits are waiting. Publish changes stays grayed out until there is something new to publish.

Go back to an earlier version

  1. Step 1: Pick Settings under Site in the editor.
  2. Step 2: Under History, click Restore beside the version you want. It is copied into your draft.
  3. Step 3: Click Publish changes to make it live.

History keeps your last ten published versions.

Take the site offline

Under Settings, click Unpublish, then Yes, take it offline. Visitors see a page saying the website isn't available. Your pages are kept. Click Publish to put the site back.
