Edit your website

Change the words, photos, sections and pages of your site in the editor. Edits save as a draft; visitors see them once you publish.

Who can do this
People with the Website permission

Once your site is published, Settings › Website opens the editor: the list of what to edit, the fields, and a live preview of the site.

  1. Step 1: Go to Settings › Website. On a phone or tablet, tap the panel button beside the back arrow to open the list, and tap Preview to see the site.
  2. Step 2: Pick a page under Pages, or a list under Content or Site.
  3. Step 3: On a page, click a section to open it and change what it shows. Use a section's switch to hide it, and the arrows to move it up or down.
  4. Step 4: Check the top of the editor. Draft saved means your change is kept.
  5. Step 5: Click Publish changes when you're ready. See Publish changes to your website.

What's in the list

  • Pages: your Home, Services, About, Gallery, Reviews, Contact and Service areas pages, plus Service page and Area page, the layouts every service and every town follows.
  • Content: Business info, Services, Service areas, Gallery photos, Reviews, Questions and Photo library.
  • Site: Look, Search and sharing (how the site shows in Google and in shared links) and Settings (your address, the request form and history).

Business info has your tagline, the phone and email shown on the site, credentials, hours and social links. Leave the phone or email blank to use the ones in Settings › Company.

Add sections and pages

Under a page's sections, Add a section adds Text and photo, How it works, Pricing, Offer, Badges or Video. Added sections can be removed again. To add a page, pick a starter from Add a page… under Pages: Financing, Commercial, Careers, Special offer or New page. You can add up to 8.

Tip: Many longer text boxes have buttons for Bold, Italic, Link and Bulleted list.

Tip: Need something the editor doesn't do? Click Ask MakeHay, describe it, and click Send to MakeHay. A person replies by email, usually within a business day.

Good to know: If the site is changed somewhere else while you edit, a bar says your latest changes weren't saved. Click Load the latest and make them again.
