Get a quote approved and signed
Your customer approves a quote online by typing their name, or you record an approval you got in person. Either way, a job is created.
- Where
- Quotes
- Who can do this
- Customers approve from their link. Recording an approval yourself needs the Approve, void & delete quotes permission.
Every quote you send has a page your customer opens from the email or the link. They approve it there, and their typed name is their electronic signature.
What your customer does
- Step 1: They open the quote from the email button or the link you shared.
- Step 2: If you offered packages, they pick one under Choose your package.
- Step 3: They click the approve button. On a quote without packages or an online deposit, it reads Approve this quote.
- Step 4: They type their name in Full name, tick I agree to the terms shown on this quote. and click Approve quote.
Their name, the date and their IP address are kept as the acceptance record. The quote shows Approved, with who approved it and when at the bottom of the quote page. If the Quote approved notification is on in Settings › Notifications, you get an email.
Your customer can click Request changes instead. See Revise a quote.
Record an approval you got in person or by phone
- Step 1: Open the quote from Quotes.
- Step 2: Click Approve & create job on a draft, or Mark as approved on a quote you already sent.
- Step 3: If the quote has packages, choose one under Which package did they pick?
- Step 4: Click the same button again in the window that opens to confirm. Recording an approval this way sends no email to your customer.
What happens next
Approval locks the quote and creates a job with the status Unscheduled. It waits in the Unscheduled tray on the Calendar until you schedule it. The quote also gets a Create invoice button for billing the work.
Good to know: Customers can't approve after the Valid until date; they see that the quote has expired. When a deposit is due online, approval only goes through once it's paid. See Ask for a deposit.
