Invoices and payments

Have your customer pay the online payment fees

Turn on Customer pays the fees to add card and bank payment fees to what your customer pays online, instead of taking them from your payout.

Who can do this
The account owner

Online payments carry a 1.5% platform fee plus Stripe's processing fee. Checks and cash you record yourself are free. By default the fees come out of your payout. You can pass them on instead.

  1. Step 1: Go to Settings › Payments.
  2. Step 2: Turn on Customer pays the fees.

From then on, the amount your customer pays online is raised so you still receive the full invoice amount. On their copy of the invoice the extra shows as one Taxes and fees line, together with any sales tax.

It covers online invoice payments, deposits paid when a customer approves a quote, and autopay charges.

  • Checks and cash you record yourself are unaffected.
  • The amount is worked out from card fees. A bank transfer costs less to process, so you keep a little more on those.
  • Your own invoice page shows the invoice amount. Click Preview as client to see the total your customer will pay.

Tip: Turn the switch off to go back to paying the fees from your payout.
