Jobs and scheduling

Create a job without a quote

Add work straight to your schedule from Jobs or the Calendar. Quotes that get approved turn into jobs on their own.

Who can do this
The account owner, and people with the Edit jobs & status permission

When a quote is approved, MakeHay creates its job for you and puts it in the unscheduled tray on the calendar. For work with no quote, create the job yourself.

  1. Step 1: Open Jobs or Calendar from the main menu and click New job. You can also click New job on the Jobs tab of a customer's page.
  2. Step 2: Pick the Customer. If they aren't in MakeHay yet, click New customer…, type their name (phone and email are optional), and click Add customer.
  3. Step 3: Pick the Job site. You can leave a job without an address, but then it gets no weather check, no map and no address on the calendar.
  4. Step 4: Give the job a Title and tick any Categories that fit.
  5. Step 5: Under Visits, pick a Date, and a Through date for a run of days. Click Add another day for each separate visit. Leave the dates empty to schedule it later.
  6. Step 6: Tick This job repeats for weekly or monthly work. You set the schedule and the price per visit on the next screen.
  7. Step 7: Click Create job.

A job with dates goes straight onto the calendar. A job without dates waits in the unscheduled tray until you schedule it.

Tip: Categories come from Settings › Services, and a category's weather rule applies to every job in it. See Plan around the weather.

Good to know: A job made from an approved quote takes the quote's title, job site and categories. You can change its site later with Change site on the job page.
