For fencing contractors

Fencing software that's actually free

A fence bid is a linear-foot math problem with gates on top — and the job itself is holes, concrete, and whatever the ground decides to be that week. Quote it in minutes, set posts on dry days, and keep the software bill at $0.

No spam. We'll email you once when MakeHay opens.

Free forever. No monthly plan, no seat fees, no trial clock.

Sound familiar?

The parts of the job that have nothing to do with the work.

Measure, quote, wait, lose

The homeowner is collecting three bids. You measured Tuesday, meant to write it up Wednesday, and sent it Friday — right after they signed with the crew that emailed a clean number Tuesday night.

Rain turns post holes into wells

You augered twenty holes on Monday; Tuesday's storm filled every one. Now it's bailing water, re-tamping mud, and hoping the concrete you pour will actually set.

You're fronting the materials

Panels, posts, and concrete get bought before the first hole is dug. Without a deposit collected at approval, you're the bank — and the homeowner's timeline is your interest rate.

What changes with MakeHay

Quote, schedule, get paid, come back.

Schedule around the weather, not despite it

Fence work is ground work: rain fills fresh post holes, a muddy yard chews up under the truck, and frozen ground stops the auger cold. MakeHay puts the forecast on every scheduled job, so you set posts on days the concrete can actually cure — and move the dig before the customer's lawn becomes the casualty.

  • Rain flags before you auger and pour
  • Freeze warnings when the ground and the concrete both say no
  • Per-job forecasts for sequencing post days and panel days

Quote it before you leave the site

Walk the line, price per linear foot by fence type, and add gates, tear-out, and haul-away as line items. Email the quote from the backyard — homeowners comparing three bids usually sign the first clean one.

Get paid without chasing

Collect the material deposit online the moment they approve, and invoice the balance when the last gate swings. Card and ACH pay links, automatic reminders — and no more fronting lumber on a handshake.

Keep every customer for the re-do

Gates sag, storms take out panels, and the neighbor wants what they've been looking at over the fence line. Every customer and every foot you've built stays on file, so repairs and next-door referrals turn into quotes in minutes.

The honest math

Compare the bill, not the brochure.

FAQ

Fencing questions, answered straight.

Is it really free?

Yes. Unlimited customers, quotes, scheduling, and invoices — free forever, not a trial. No monthly plan, no seat fees, and no credit card to start.

What's the catch?

No catch. The software costs us almost nothing per contractor to run, so it's free. Later we'll sell optional add-ons with real per-use costs — texting and AI — but quoting, scheduling, and invoicing stay free. Online card and ACH payments carry processing costs, as they would with any provider.

Does it help me plan post-setting around rain and frost?

Yes. Every scheduled job carries the National Weather Service forecast for its own address, with rain and freeze flags on the calendar — so you dig and pour on days the holes stay dry and the concrete can set, and slide the job before the yard turns to soup.

Can I take my data with me if I leave?

It's yours. Ask and we'll export everything — customers, quotes, invoices, payment history — and we delete what's left as laid out in our privacy policy.

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. Sign up with an email and send your first fence quote the same day. There's no trial to expire, because there's no paid tier behind it.
