Services come from your price book with the descriptions you give them. Hours, phone, email and address come from your company settings. Photos come from the ones you upload, and your logo from Settings. You fill in a ten-step questionnaire (ten minutes, saved as you go), MakeHay builds the first version, and you get an email with a link when it is ready to look at. From then on the editor is yours: every page, every section, with a live preview as you type.

Your site goes live right away at an address under MakeHay's domain. When you have a domain of your own, connect it with two DNS records and your email keeps working; or pick a new name from inside MakeHay and we register it for you, included with the add-on. Your own domain takes over, and the MakeHay address forwards to it for a month, then retires.

Common questions

What does it cost?

$197 a month or $1,970 a year, which is two months free. A domain we register for you is included while it costs under $50 a year. Cancel whenever you like; the site stays up for 14 days after the add-on ends, and a domain you own stays yours.

Do I need a domain?

No. The site goes live at an address under MakeHay's domain. When you want your own, connect a domain you already have, or pick a new name from inside MakeHay and we register it for you.

Who writes it?

You answer a short questionnaire about the business: what you do, where you work, a few photos, what sets you apart. MakeHay builds the first version from that and from your account, and you can change any of it afterwards.

I already have a website. Why would I want this?

Most contractor websites go stale: a price changes, a service is added, the hours move, and the site says the old thing. This one reads from your account, so it stays current, and its contact page is your request form, so leads do not get lost in email. If you would rather keep your current site, the request form embeds there with one line of code, free.

How long does it take?

You get an email with a link when the first version is ready to look at, usually within a few days of sending the questionnaire. Change what you like, press Publish, and it is live.
