What changes with MakeHay

Quote, schedule, get paid, come back.

Schedule around the weather, not despite it

Every address on your route carries the National Weather Service forecast for that address, not one guess for the metro. Write the rule that means a plow night for you (precipitation over 50% with a high below 34°F) and the days that match light up per property, days ahead. Crew colors show which truck owns which route.

  • A forecast per driveway and lot, on the calendar
  • Your own plow rule, flagged days ahead per property
  • Crew colors, so each truck sees its route
  • Unscheduled adds in a tray, ready to drag onto the night's run
Two weeks of the MakeHay calendar with the forecast on each day: green days with low rain chances, and two red days with a rain flag on the visit scheduled there.
Step 1

Quote it before you leave the site

Quote per push, per season, or per inch from your price book, with salting and sidewalks as lines, and offer per-push, seasonal, and seasonal plus salt as three packages on one quote. Customers sign up through the request form on your website, approve from their phone, and sign the seasonal agreement from the emailed link.

Three package cards on one MakeHay quote, with the recommended one highlighted, and the first line item priced below.
Step 2

Get paid without chasing

After the storm, turn the pushes into invoices in clicks: a line per push priced from your book, or the seasonal contract's monthly invoice, with card and ACH pay links. Overdue reminders go out automatically while you sleep off the night shift.

An invoice as the customer sees it: the lines, the balance due, and a Pay online button with the bank-transfer option under it.
Step 3

Keep every customer for the re-do

Plowing is a renewal business. Every property keeps its trigger, its pushes, the photos you sent, and what it paid, so fall renewals go out from the record and the March dispute is settled by it.

The Job sites card on a MakeHay customer page: two sites, each with its own Measure button.
Step 4

Give every customer a portal

One private link per customer: messages with photos, documents you request, a heads-up on any contract waiting for their e-signature, and invoices they pay. No app, no password, free.

The client portal: Home, Messages, Docs, and Billing tabs, a Needs-you box with an estimate to review and a balance due, and the contractor's contact card.

FAQ

Snow plowing questions, answered straight.

Is it really free for plow operators?

Yes. Unlimited customers, properties, quotes, scheduling, and invoices, free forever, not a trial. No monthly plan, no seat fees, and no credit card to start.

How is this different from the snow removal page?

Same software, different work. This page is for driveway and lot plow routes priced per push or per season; the snow removal page covers full-service snow and ice contracts with salting, sidewalks, and hauling. Both run on the same calendar, rules, and invoices.

Does it route my trucks?

It gives each truck a color and its own visits on the calendar, and keeps unscheduled adds in a tray. It doesn't optimize the drive order; you set the sequence.

Can I prove we plowed on a given night?

Yes. The visit is on the record with its date, and a photo sent from the cleared driveway is dated, emailed to the customer, and kept in their portal.

Per push and seasonal on the same route?

Yes. A per-push customer gets a line per push; a seasonal customer gets the contract as a quote with a monthly line. Both live on the same route with their own history.

What's the catch for a plowing business?

No catch. Software features cost us almost nothing to run, so they are free, and they stay free all winter. Online card and ACH payments carry processing costs, as they would with any provider.

See every trade we build for on the industries page, browse the full feature list, check pricing (it's free), or measure your next job on the free satellite measurement tool, no account needed.
