Fill in the website questionnaire

Six short screens tell MakeHay your look, services, towns, photos and hours. Your site changes on screen as you answer.

Who can do this
People with the Website permission

Once the Website add-on is on, Settings › Website opens the questionnaire. The preview of your site changes as you answer, and answers save as you go.

  1. Step 1: On Your site so far, check your business name, phone, email and address. Switch off the phone, email or address if you'd rather keep it off the site, then click Make it yours.
  2. Step 2: Look: pick colors, a typeface, corners and the voice for the words. You can Skip this screen.
  3. Step 3: What you do and where: tap services from your price book or type others, star up to 6 to feature on the home page, and add your home town and the other towns you serve.
  4. Step 4: Photos and logo: click Add photos and add at least 6 photos of your own work. Tap the star on one to make it the cover, tick the box confirming the photos are yours to use, and upload your logo if you have one.
  5. Step 5: About you: write about the business in your own words. Tick Licensed or Insured only if it's true.
  6. Step 6: Hours and links: check your hours and tap the pages you use, like Facebook or Yelp, to add their links. You can Skip this screen too.
  7. Step 7: Your address, then send: type a domain you already own, or tick the box to have MakeHay register one. If you have a Google Business Profile, tick that box and paste its link. Then click Send to MakeHay.

Good to know: Send to MakeHay stays off until five things are done: something about your business, at least one service, your home town, 6 or more photos, and the box confirming the photos are yours. Ready to send shows how many are done.

Tip: Click Finish later to stop. Continue the questionnaire on your dashboard brings you back.

After you send it

A person at MakeHay builds the first version and emails you a link when it is ready, usually within 1 to 2 business days. Until then, Settings › Website shows where things stand, with See your draft, Add photos and Edit your answers. To change an answer, click Edit your answers, make the change, and click Save answers on the last screen. Facts, towns, hours and links you change after sending fill in what is still empty on the draft.
