Print an invoice or a receipt
Print any invoice as your customer sees it, and once something has been paid on it, print a receipt of the payments.
- Where
- Invoices
- Who can do this
- People with the View invoices permission
Every invoice can be printed, paid or not. Once a payment has settled on it, the same button also prints a receipt.
- Step 1: Open the invoice from Invoices.
- Step 2: Click Print. On an invoice with a payment on it, pick Invoice or Receipt.
- Step 3: The document opens in a new tab and the print dialog comes up on its own. Choose a printer, or save it as a PDF from there.
What the receipt shows
- Your business details and the customer's, as they appear on the invoice.
- Every payment received, with its date, method and check number or reference.
- The invoice total, any deposit credited, the total paid, and the balance remaining. A paid invoice says Paid in full.
- A bank payment that is still processing is mentioned but not counted until it settles.
Good to know: A customer who pays online gets a receipt by email on their own. The printed receipt is for a customer who paid by check or cash, or who asks for one on paper.
Tip: The Print button on the preview page prints again without going back to the invoice.
