Save a quote as a template
Turn a quote you send often into a template, start new quotes from it, and keep your templates in order under Settings.
- Who can do this
- Saving and using a template needs the Create & edit quotes permission. Renaming or removing one needs the Company profile permission.
A template is a quote's shape, saved under a name: its project description, terms, tax rate, how long it stays open, deposit, discount, client view switches and line items. A new quote started from it has all of that filled in, ready to change.
Save one
- Step 1: Build the quote the way you'd send it.
- Step 2: In the builder, click Save as template under Save and Preview. On a quote's page, it's in the row of buttons at the top, so a quote you already sent can be saved too.
- Step 3: Type a Template name, like Seal coat and restripe, and click Save template.
Using a name you already have replaces that template. That is also how you change one: start a quote from it, make the changes, and save it under the same name.
Good to know: Packages (good, better, best), weather rules and measurement links stay with the quote and aren't part of a template. A template made from a quote with packages keeps the lines of the recommended package.
Start a quote from one
- Step 1: Go to Quotes and click New quote.
- Step 2: Choose the customer and job site, then pick the template under Start from.
- Step 3: Click Create quote. The builder opens with everything from the template. Change anything you like, then send as usual.
Keep them in order
Under Quote templates in Settings › Quotes & invoices, use the arrows to change the order they're offered in, the pencil to rename one, and the trash can to remove one. Removing a template doesn't change the quotes made from it.
